Overview

This Day's Death is a psychological and autobiographical novel by John Rechy that follows Jim Girard, a young law student who finds himself caught between his Chicano roots in El Paso and the sexually liberated but dangerous gay underground of Los Angeles. Following an arrest for lewd conduct, Jim must face a trial that threatens his career, all while grappling with the suffocating demands of his ailing mother back in Texas.
